The York String Quartet is a highly professional, experienced quartet which specialises in providing elegant string music of the highest quality for weddings, civil partnerships, parties, dinners, balls and corporate functions throughout Yorkshire and the North East.

Our York String Quartet musicians are all established chamber music and orchestral players who have spent many years playing within the UK and abroad with the top British orchestras, such as The Philharmonia, Opera North, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Halle, and English National Opera. We have developed into a small group of excellent professional musicians, as experience has shown that this increases our availability and guarantees a quality result, with all players thoroughly familiar with our repertoire. Currently all members of The York String Quartet are playing and teaching in the York and Leeds areas.

Since our inception, The York String Quartet has played for weddings and functions in a wide variety of venues throughout York and Yorkshire, including Hazlewood Castle Hotel, Aldwark Manor Hotel, Goldsborough Hall, Wood Hall Hotel, York Minster, Merchant Adventurers' Hall, the Old Parsonage Hotel, the Treasurer’s House, the Mansion House and the Hospitium, plus dozens of others, as well as in churches and private homes.

We have a huge and ever-increasing repertoire of music enabling us to play a mixture of all types of music in order to cater for a wide range of tastes and ages. We pride ourselves on being flexible and catering for personal taste, and during the event we respond to requests for a particular style or piece of music. We have our own music arranger, and thus quartet arrangements of particular favourites can easily be created.
